Mortality and morbidity reviews of individual patients are a long-established feature of clinical peer review meetings and some NHS hospitals have gone further by collecting and presenting data on a regular basis.
In 2015 Clarity was asked to design a system that would automate the methods developed and used by a group of hospitals in the North East of England. Clarity’s system went ‘live’ in August 2016.
Clarity’s mortality review system is based on our established ‘Assure’ platform used to deliver our quality improvement service. Our system receive, analyse, aggregate and report on individual patient data from the NHS national patient data repository (SUS) and supplemented with data added locally by participating hospitals. Data is transmitted using https and sFTP secure transmission protocols.
